Fine Arts


Creative Art / 10 units

This is an introductory course designed to expose the student to design, color and perspective through the following mediums: nature art, pencil and charcoal drawing, watercolor, block printing, oil painting and ceramics.

Ceramics / 10 units

This is a course designed to introduce students to three-dimensional art through the following methods of developing clay: Sculpting, hand building and the wheel. Students will develop skills in the use of a wide variety of tools, glazes and clay types.

Drama / 10 units

Drama class is open to all students with an interest in performance. Stage and acting techniques are taught from basic to advanced levels, as well as behind-the-scenes management and technical aspects of directing.

Choir / 10 units

Choir is open to all students. Students will develop skills in sight singing, musicianship and choral training. Sacred music is the main focus of musical selections, but some secular and holiday-season selections are also performed.

 

Handbell Choir / 10 units

Handbell Choir is a group of 10-13 ringers who perform on a five-octave set of English Handbells. Students must have excellent music reading skills as well as a strong sense of rhythm and good hand coordination. This group tours extensively during the school year. Students selected are expected to make a full year commitment.

Lindaires / 10 units

The Lindaires is Rio Lindo's touring choral group. Members are selected by audition and a high level of musicianship is expected. The group travels extensively in Northern California and has a national tour every other year. Students selected are expected to make a full year commitment. Co-requisite: concurrent

enrollment in Choir.

String Ensemble / 2 units

String Ensemble meets weekly to prepare for concert presentations. Students are expected to devote personal practice time to be prepared to meet for weekly rehearsals. Several performances are given through out the school year.

Prerequisite: at least two years private instrumental lessons. Course offering dependent on number of interested students.
