Industrial Technology


International students interested in taking any industrial arts class are required to pass a vocabulary test for safety purposes prior to using the equipment.


Auto Body / 10 units

Auto Body is a project-oriented class designed as an introduction to the field of automotive sheet metal repair and refinishing. Students are encouraged to work on their own vehicles. If students do not have their own vehicles, a wide variety of projects will be assigned. This course may be taken more than once for credit.


Auto Mechanics / 10 units

Auto Mechanics class is a comprehensive learning experience studying the internal combustion engine. Students participate in hands-on activities to learn how the engine works. Dismantling and reassembling an engine, and basic maintenance and care are also taught.


General Shop / 10 units

General Shop is a survey course in Industrial Arts that includes woodworking, welding, auto body, and auto mechanics. Students are given the opportunity to develop basic skills in each area and discover which areas they may want to pursue further.


Welding & Metal / 10 units

The purpose of this class is to provide the student with a variety of welding experiences including gas, wire, arc, heliarc, and plasma torch. After developing basic welding skills, students actively participate in building various projects.


Wood Shop / 10 units

This project-oriented class is designed to give students the opportunity to explore and enjoy working with wood. Each student is guided through the process of choosing and designing a personal project, selecting the necessary supplies, and satisfactorily completing the project.
