 Religion Students who have not been enrolled in an Adventist Bible curriculum within the past three years are asked to take a religion-course placement survey to determine which religion course is most appropriate for them. Intro to Christianity / 10 units Introduction to Christianity gives an expansive presentation of the mystery of God. Earth’s origin, the beginning of evil, and God's interaction with the human race are all explored to weave an understanding of why we exist. The second quarter focuses on the life of Jesus Christ and helps explain the basis of the Christian faith. Religion I / 10 units The first semester of Religion I explores beginnings and leads students through the process of establishing a philosophy for understanding and living life. The foundation for this study is taken from the book of Genesis: In the beginning God... Second semester is spent looking at the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The spotlight shines full power on Jesus, who is God’s Gift to the human race. God became a man for our salvation. Religion II / 10 units Religion II is a class designed to discover God's leading of His people. This covers the period from the time of Abraham and Moses clear down to our time today. Emphasis will be placed first semester on the Old Testament. It is shown that God is always leading even if the His people are not always following. Second semester places emphasis on God's leading in these current times. Study of the reformation and its reformers is covered. Of special interest is the formation and purpose of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and how it fits into the reformation and plan of God for these days of earth’s history. Students will be given opportunities to share areas of special interest to them through reports, PowerPoint presentations, drama, and oral interpretation. Religion III / 10 units Religion III is a Bible-based class for juniors, covering events in the life of Christ, Paul’s Letter to the Romans, the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Other subjects discussed are friendships, individual standards, and other personal issues. Religion IV / 10 units Religion IV is divided into two main sections: Cosmos vs. Chaos and Marriage and Family. During the first semester students study the eternal conflict between good and evil. They analyze God’s personality and how to build a meaningful, personal relationship with Him. During the second semester students study about the role God plays in our personal relationships with others. Students are exposed to the responsibilities of serious romantic relationships including courtship, engagement, wedding planning, marriage, family budgeting, pregnancy and child care. |
