Mission

We commit to reflect Christ, cultivate the relevancy and excitement of learning and impact the world through service. One of the first steps toward accomplishing the mission is to foster a profound sense of community between the teachers, support staff and students. Rio students appreciate that their teachers live on campus and are readily available.

In addition to preparing quality classroom experiences, Rio’s staff intentionally create and foster close relationships as they serve their students through coaching athletic teams, sponsoring classes, participating in student activities, and mentoring them in home-group meetings. But the most important component of community is a shared spiritual experience of worshiping together as students and staff members.

Location

The natural beauty of 360 acres in Sonoma County welcomes students and their families. The boarding academy is located off of Highway 101 in Healdsburg California, approximately 70 miles north of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. See map to the campus. Surrounded by the Russian River, Rio Lindo Adventist Academy offers students a safe, peaceful and scenic environment for their high school education.

Boarding and Day Students

Rio, a coed Christian high school, accepts both day and boarding students and offers a full-service boarding program to accommodate both U.S. and international students. With around 25 percent of the enrolled student body coming from homes outside of the United States, cultural diversity is one of Rio’s greatest strengths.

The boarding program allows both day and residential students to participate fully in their high school experiences. During the weekends, Rio plans social and spiritual programming for the dormitory students which many day students also choose to participate in. For all off-campus athletic events, field trips, and social activities, the academy provides transportation.

College Life and Preparation

Rio is a fully accredited college preparatory high school with approximately 90% of its graduates attending college. In addition to academic preparation, the school has developed a comprehensive program intentionally designed to prepare students for adult life. At Rio, students learn personal responsibility, how to work together as a team, and leadership skills as they participate in, and often lead out in, a variety of campus social, spiritual, and classroom activities. In addition, most students learn important job skills while participating in the work program.

The rich, broad-based curriculum includes courses ranging from remedial to honors and AP classes, with a variety of elective and life skills classes included as well. Participation in the athletic and music programs allows students to develop individual talents and display those talents on and off campus, while earning academic credit.

With an average teacher/student ration of 1 to 12, students receive personal attention as well as excellent classroom instruction. Teachers utilize cooperative learning groups, modeling, personal and team projects, as well as individual learning strategies.

Rio Lindo Adventist Academy has tailored its academic program to accommodate a wide variety of academic abilities and interests; therefore, three diplomas are available: General, College Prep, and Honors. Read more about the available diplomas.
