Faculty Highlight – Smirna Garcia Mahoney

This week for Faculty Facts Friday we are highlighting Smirna Garcia Mahoney, Spanish Teacher. Students learn not only the Spanish language, but many aspects of the Hispanic cultures such as music, literature, customs, holidays and food. Read below to learn some new facts about Rio’s Spanish Teacher:

 

Q: If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning medal for?

A: Swimming

 

Q: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?

A: Travel alone or go backpack traveling.

 

Q: What was your favorite subject in school?

A: Geography

 

Q: What was your first job?

A: At 10 years old, I was a waitress at my grandma’s restaurant.

 

Q: If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

A: Visit with friends and go different places to spend time together.
