Home Leave Information

Each six weeks or so, Rio students get a 5-day break to go home, relax and re-energize. Please see our school calendar to find out when these breaks, referred to as “Home Leaves”, take place.

All home leaves will begin at 12:00 pm on the designated days unless otherwise indicated.  Students should make arrangements for transportation ahead of time. We provide transportation services to help alleviate long drives for parents.

Rio Transportation

Rio provides transportation to Tracy and Sacramento (and points en route) on home leaves and vacations at a moderate cost to cover expenses. See below for a complete list of pick up/drop off locations, times, and costs. Students wishing to ride Rio transportation must sign up and make financial arrangements at the business office 3 days prior to the home leave.

Transportation Schedule

Reservations must be made and payments completed at least three days before home leave.

Please click Transportation Schedule for the complete pick up and drop off location details. A route map is available at the bottom of this page.

Airport Shuttle Service

Rio is conveniently located within two hours of four airports. The Sonoma County Airport is 20 minutes from Rio and provides direct flights to California, Utah, Oregon, Washington and more. A new airlines called Avelo Airlines offers low-priced tickets and flies to Burbank, California.

There is a 12:00 pm trip provided free of charge to the Sonoma County airport in Santa Rosa for those needing to ride the Sonoma Airport Express shuttle bus to take them to SFO or Oakland International Airport. Students needing this trip must sign up ahead of time at the Secretary’s Office.
If you will be taking the airport shuttle, please be sure you have the appropriate cash ahead of time, or you can pay online.

For the return to campus after home leave, the deans will pick up students from Sonoma County Airport from 3:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m only. Please talk to the appropriate dean ahead of time with your transportation needs.

Students who need pick up/drop off at the Sonoma County airport outside of the Rio transportation times provided on home leave day, must see the dean ahead of time to make arrangements. There will be a $25 charge. Driving services may only be used with written parent permission to the deans.
