This week for Faculty Facts Friday we are highlighting Bruce Yingling, English Teacher. Bruce Yingling has been teaching English at Rio for over 25 years. He currently teaches Integrated English, English III, English IV, and Honors Junior and Senior English. Mr. Yingling emphasizes writing in all of his classes and challenges his students to think deeper about their subject material. Besides teaching, Mr. Yingling’s other passions are travel, cycling and running, photography and enjoying time with his grandchildren. Here are some more facts about Mr. Yingling:
Q: What job would you be terrible at?
A: Anything that requires mechanical skills.
Q: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
A: Travel and immerse themselves in a different culture.
Q: What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
A: Retirement and no more grading; however, I will miss teaching.
Q: Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
A: Realize that you know a lot less than you think you do.
Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: It would include some dark chocolate.
