Rio Lindo Adventist Academy is located outside of the picturesque town of Healdsburg, California. Surrounded by orchards, agriculture, and the scenic Russian River, Rio’s campus provides a safe and natural environment for students. Whether students are canoeing the Russian River, mountain biking on one of the many trails, or hiking down to the horse barn, students can experience nature firsthand at Rio.
Rio’s main campus is situated at the top of a hill, surrounded by 350 acres of natural land. The campus itself has two dormitories, a science complex/art department, main administration building, performing arts center, fully equipped library, a digital arts computer lab, general computer lab, gymnasium, junior olympic sized pool, industrial arts complex, and lots of open spaces. The main part of campus houses most main buildings, dorms, and the cafeteria. Surrounding the main campus are several apple orchards that were planted in the 1970s, which still yield delicious apples to this day. Native animals that roam the campus include raccoons, herons, foxes, squirrels, coyote, and many species of river fish and animals.
Every time I stop and look at the natural beauty—the beautiful palette of reds and oranges in the fall, the shimmering light reflecting off the river, the rich greens of Fitch Mountain, and the panoramic view seen when looking out over the bank from Church Park—I say a quick prayer of thanks that I am blessed to live here.
